Welcome Violin Teacher Lyssa Pelton!

Midtown Music School is pleased to welcome Lyssa Pelton to our faculty! Lyssa is a very talented performer and teacher, with a long and deep relationship with music. Her bio is extensive (which you can read herenode/1132) but more importantly, she believes in ensuring that her students learn to share her love of music. Welcome, Lyssa!

Toronto Marlies Partnership

Midtown Music School is proud to announce our new partnership with the Toronto Marlies Hockey Club! The Marlies have a long history of developing professional talent to prepare players for the Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL. (Sounds a little bit like what we do in music!) We have a lot of excitement coming up with Marlies - including some potential performance opportunities for all our students! Stay tuned, we have much more to announce in the coming weeks...

Back to School: Can Adults Take Lessons?

This is a question we get a lot when people contact us. It may surprise you, but about 40% of our students are adults! We hear many similar stories:

  • "I played for a few years as a kid, but I stopped. I wish I never had quit, and I really want to get back into it!"
  • "I've never played music before, but I really enjoy listening to and being around music."
  • "I'm retired and want to keep my mind sharp."
  • "I've always been in love with the piano/cello/violin/singing, and want to try it!"
  • "I want to try writing/I love listening to jazz/I want to understand music more."

At Midtown Music School, we have a lot of experience working with adults of all levels. While we understand it can be intimidating to start something new and challenging like music, our aim is always to inspire and share our love of music - whatever your goals!
