Attendance policy

Billing

Lessons must be paid for in advance, either by term or monthly installments. Payments made by installment must be in the form of post-dated cheques or Visa/MasterCard, as outlined in application form.

Termination of Lessons

If you wish to terminate your lessons with Midtown Music School, we require four-weeksʼ written notice. This is to ensure a smooth transition for scheduling, as well as to try to not disrupt our teachersʼ incomes.

Attendance

A portion of your lesson fee is to reserve your time slot each week. It is almost impossible with a very busy schedule to allot extra time over and above the time slot, or alternative times. Another portion of your tuition covers lesson planning and preparation outside of the core window of the private lesson, as well as the expertise of the teacher. As such:

  • No allowance will be made for lessons missed by students, except by special arrangement in cases of prolonged, serious illness or compassionate reasons.

  • All school-year lessons must be completed by the school-year deadline, which will be given to you each year. This is to ensure a smooth transition into summer lessons.

If Your Teacher Is Away

In the event of the teacher's absence, the lesson is not deducted from the studentʼs yearly total, and the lesson will be taught later in the year.

Lateness

We cannot make up time due to late arrival.

Examinations and Performances

Students should not apply for examinations, performances or auditions without the prior knowledge and approval of the teacher. This is to ensure both the student is adequately prepared, as well as allowing the teacher adequate preparation to strive for the highest success.

Behaviour

We share our school environment with other people and other activities. Therefore, please treat our environment and those in it with care and respect. Please pick up after yourself, and refrain from excessive noise.
