Peter Cosbey

Peter Cosbey is an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher and chamber music coach. Versatile in a wide variety of genres from Baroque through Contemporary to Pop and Jazz, Peter is also experienced in performing Solos, Chamber Music and Orchestral works. He is a founding member of the eclectic and dynamic Annex Quartet, and a regular performer with the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra.

 

As well as regularly performing on the Alicier Arts chamber music series, Peter has appeared in the Niagara International Chamber Music Festival, Summer Music in the Garden at Toronto Music Garden, the Luminato Festival, and the Canadian Opera Company's Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre concert series with pianist Mariko Kamachi.

  

In addition to the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra, Peter was a member of the Regina Symphony Orchestra as well as Assistant Principal Cello with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.

 

Peter's awards include the Dr. Howard Leyton-Brown bow award, the Director's Gold Medal from the Conservatory of Performing Arts in Regina, and top prize at the Regina Musical Club's Recital Competition.

On May 15, Midtown Music School celebrated its sixth anniversary. We are incredibly proud of the impact we have had on so many people's lives throughout the years, and look forward to sharing our music with many more people to come. This year in particular we had four students successfully audition for post-secondary music schools. One of them, Gabriel, wrote about his experience with us.
